Chiba Maid Cafes: 8 Spots in Chiba, Kashiwa & Funabashi

Illustrative image (AI-generated)

The Chiba scene is smaller than Tokyo's and a bit more spread out, and it splits into three clusters: Chiba City (around Chiba and Keisei Chiba-Chuo stations), Kashiwa (around Kashiwa Station's east exit, plus one shop near Minami-Kashiwa) and Funabashi. This guide covers the 8 shops we have verified in Chiba prefecture, with their hours and the prices they publish.

The mix is different from Akihabara. Only three of the eight are maid cafes or maid bars, and the rest are an idol cafe, a Vocaloid bar and three anison (anime-song) karaoke bars. Almost everything opens in the evening, so plan for after 6pm.

What to expect

Most places here are bars as well as cafes, so pricing is usually a timed set with drinks included rather than a daytime cafe menu. Published prices in our data: Kurotsuki charges ¥800 for 60 minutes (¥880 with tax) plus one drink, Dice has a 60-minute free-drink set at ¥2,500 or ¥3,000 depending on when you arrive, Palette @time charges ¥2,400 for one hour (¥1,800 for women) and Sirius charges ¥3,000 for one hour. Vocabar Melty has no table charge, only drinks. For a general breakdown, see how much a maid cafe costs in Japan.

Chiba City: Chiba Station and Chiba-Chuo

  • Maid Izakaya Mameya Chiba — a maid izakaya on the 4th floor of the YK11 Building in Innai, near JR Chiba Station, known for its Okinawan dishes. It works for solo guests and groups, and takes enquiries for party courses, birthday courses and private hire. Open 6pm to 11pm, closed on Sundays.
  • Idol Cafe 2nen 8kumi Chiba — a school-classroom idol cafe where aspiring-idol "students" welcome guests as their "cheering squad". Open from 6pm on Mondays and Wednesdays to Fridays and from 4pm on weekends and holidays, until 11pm. Closed on Tuesdays.
  • Anibar Palette @time — an anime-song bar on the 4th floor of the A&FL Building in Fujimi, a 7-minute walk from Chiba Station's east exit. You sing anime, Vocaloid and game songs on stage, and the price includes unlimited karaoke and over 100 kinds of all-you-can-drink. Staff wear anime cosplay. Open 6pm on weekdays and 5pm on weekends and holidays, until 11:30pm.
  • Vocabar Melty — a Vocaloid fans' bar on the 4th floor of the Tanuki Koji Building in Motochiba-cho, near Keisei Chiba-Chuo Station. Karaoke and DJ play, no table charge, and open from 8pm until 5am every day.

Kashiwa: the east exit and Minami-Kashiwa

  • Furyo Maid Kissa Bar Kurotsuki Kashiwa — a "delinquent" maid cafe and bar on the 4th floor of the Isono Building, 5 minutes from Kashiwa Station's east exit. The theme is a post-apocalyptic street-corner tavern, with cast in gothic, jacket-style maid outfits. It has karaoke, bring-your-own food and drink-all-you-can plans. Closed on Mondays; on Fridays and Saturdays it opens at 9pm and runs until 4:30am, otherwise 7pm to 11pm.
  • Amusement Cafe & Bar Dice — an amusement-style maid cafe and bar on the 2nd floor of the Kashiwa 21st Century Building No. 2, a 3-minute walk from Kashiwa Station. You can play both new and classic video games, and solo visitors are welcome. There is no nomination system. Open 7pm to 11:30pm, closed on Sundays.
  • Anison Cafe & Bar Sirius — an anime-song karaoke bar on the ground floor of M's Minami-Kashiwa, about 5 minutes from Minami-Kashiwa Station. You sing along to anime footage in a relaxed atmosphere that suits solo visitors. One hour is ¥3,000 with all-you-can-drink and unlimited singing (extra hour ¥1,800). Open 7pm on weekdays and 6pm on weekends and holidays, until midnight; weekly schedules are posted on X.

Funabashi

  • Anison Bar Asteroid Blues — an anime-song bar on the 4th floor of the Kowa Daiichi Building in Honcho, about 5 minutes from Keisei Funabashi Station (7 minutes from JR Funabashi). You can chat about anime and sing anime songs, with all-you-can-drink and unlimited singing. Open 6:30pm Monday to Saturday and 3pm on Sunday, all the way until 5am.

Which one should you pick?

  • Want a maid experience: Mameya in Chiba City, or Kurotsuki and Dice in Kashiwa. All three are on the list of maid cafes in Chiba.
  • Want to sing: Palette @time, Sirius and Asteroid Blues are the anime-song bars, collected under anime cafes in Chiba.
  • Want to start earlier: 2nen 8kumi opens at 4pm on weekends and holidays, Asteroid Blues at 3pm on Sundays, and Palette @time and Sirius open at 5pm and 6pm on weekends.
  • Want to stay late: Asteroid Blues and Vocabar Melty run until 5am, and Kurotsuki until 4:30am on Fridays and Saturdays.
  • Want a game night: Dice is built around playing video games with the maids.

Tips

  • Closing days differ: Mameya and Dice are closed on Sundays, 2nen 8kumi on Tuesdays and Kurotsuki on Mondays.
  • Several shops sit on upper floors of multi-tenant buildings (Mameya, Palette, Melty, Kurotsuki and Asteroid Blues are all on the 4th floor), so check the building name in the address before you go.
  • Prices for 2nen 8kumi, Mameya, Asteroid Blues and Kurotsuki's drink plans are not listed in our data, so ask when you sit down. If this is your first time, how to visit a maid cafe and nervous about your first maid cafe cover the basics.
